The
Poison Apple Needs to Go
Jalapao returns to camp feeling quite crummy,
especially Sydney, having to vote out Carolina just
moments ago. Still, the tribe quickly focuses their
attention on getting a fire started for the long,
cold night. Sandy notes that because Carolina played
her cards horribly, that will buy her more time to
figure out how she can become the ultimate Survivor.
Spencer, in a confessional, makes mention that Sandy
was originally going to go, but now that Carolina is
gone, she will be the next one on her way out.
The next day, Joe insists that they need some
protein in their system to perform at the
challenges, and also simply to survive out there.
The group decides that taking advantage of all the
termite mounds in the area would not be a bad idea.
Spencer is not used to the thought of eating bugs.
The men of the tribe give the termites a try, and
after Sydney sees Stephen's reaction, she knows that
she can do without protein for a little while long.
On Timbira, Sierra still feels on the outs after the
initial vote off, but she still has hope of finding
the hidden immunity idol around camp. She knows that
it will be nearly impossible to do it on her own, so
she recruits Brendan to help her with finding it.
She feels a sense of trust with Brendan because he
was the only one that did not vote for her at the
start of the game. The two go off to the beach,
racking their brains and eventually decide to dig a
massive hole in the beach. While the two are away
from camp, the rest of the tribe suggests that
someone should go look for them because they have
been away for too long. Debbie makes her way toward
the duo looking for the idol, but they lie about the
exxistence of the big hole they have dug and simply
stated that it would be used for a bonfire. Debbie
is naive and believes that is their true intentions
and the three return back to camp pitching the idea
to everyone. Candace is the only one that seems
apathetic toward the bonfire idea, shooting it down
immediately.
Coach and Candace get into a small tiff
when they argue back and forth on how the food
should be cooked. Coach realized that the two of
them are practically the same, though he looks for
faults in people as a profession whereas she does
that because it is part of her personality.
Candace realizes that others are watching how the
two are interacting with one another and cools down
a bit. In the end, the two kiss and make up. Still,
this doesn't change Candace's description of Coach
as having an ego larger than Brazil.
At Jalapao, things are in a much more calming mood.
During this relaxation, someone prompts Taj to
answer a question about her family. She then
mentioned her husband's name (Eddie George), and a
bunch of the Survivors actually know who he is, and
how he is living. JT immediately has a confessional
about Taj probably not staying as long as she does
because she simply doesn't have the need for the
money like the others do.
At the combined reward and immunity challenge, the
Survivors learn that it is also reward and the
reward comes in the forms of fishing supplies. The
object of the challenge is to take on a trio of
Survivors from the opposing tribe and score 3
points in a basketball hoop -like net. The
first tribe to score 3 points will win immunity.
Jeff announced that the winning tribe will send
someone from the losing tribe to Exile, and that
there is another twist for them after the challenge
is over.
Timbira sits out Debbie of the challenge. When the
challenge begins, it seems that Timbira is set for
another challenge win, as Candace and Tyson both
score for their tribe in their respective heats.
However, the following heats that consisted of just
men, and one with just women allowed Jalapao to
close the gap. It all came down to the final heat,
which saw Taj, Stephen, and Sydney up against
Sierra, Candace and Tyson. After a much grueling
battle, Stephen has an opportunity to make a shot
and gets it in. Jalapao wins their first challenge!
Jalapao decides to send Brendan to Exile and Jeff
then reveals the twist. He says that the person sent
to Exile can send someone from the winning tribe to
go along with him. He doesn't hesitate and takes Taj
with him. As the exiled Survivors head out, Tyson
reiterates that their plan to take out Sierra is
still in effect.
Spirits are high at Jalapao. Sandy knows this
immunity win has saved her from leaving the game
early, as she had a probable chance of going home if
Jalapao lost. Stephen and JT take the fishing gear
for a whirl and we learn that while the two are
essentially opposites, they are developing a solid
friendship in the game. Stephen hopes this
friendship will help him in the long run as it is
one less vote he can get at Tribal Council.
When Brendan and Taj arrive at Exile, they learn
they have to choose from one of two urns. Taj opens
hers and discovers nothing while Brendan's contains
a secret note that he can share with the others or
not. The note is of course a clue to the location of
the hidden immunity idol. He also learns that he has
an opportunity to join up with the other tribe if he
chooses but he quickly shoots down that idea. Taj
wants to find out what the note reads, but Brendan
decides to hold onto the information at first.
Eventually, he lets Taj in on the clue and she gives
more insight as to where the idol is. The two decide
that working together might be in their benefit and
that they will try to get sent to Exile as many
times as possible.
Strategizing begins at the Timbira camp on the heels
of a loss. Candace admits that she hates losing and
then starts to blame Coach for underperforming, and
that she is particularly unhappy that he is more
talk than action. She doesn't hold back when
expressing this to some of her tribemates.
Meanwhile, Debbie decides not to keep this
information to herself and goes directly to Coach to
let him know that she is trash talking on him. Coach
is not pleased with the news and decides that they
can hold off of getting rid of Sierra and perhaps
get rid of the bad apple of the bunch.
Brendan returns from Exile and lets everyone know
that he did not get a clue to the hidden immunity
idol. He says that Taj was the one that got the clue
and Exile in itself is no picnic.
Some more strategizing ensues as Candace lets Erinn
in on her plan. She worries that going after Coach
at this stage of the game may be too early and that
they should still stick with Sierra. Eventually, she
believes Coach will dig his own grave. Candace feels
secure in her tribe because she is one of the more
physical women on it. Coach tries to get into some
of the other Survivors ears about changing their
minds on voting for Sierra but change their vote to
Candace. Tyson is hesitant about not voting Sierra,
particularly because she did not do too well in the
very physical challenge. Still, it seems the two the
tribe is debating between is Sierra and Candace.
At Tribal Council, Jeff asks Sierra how she felt
about being outcast so early on. She says that she
understands their decision because she looked
miserable. Jeff asks Candace how she thinks the
tribe sees her as an individual, and she comes out
by saying that she talks a bit much (a
couple of the Survivors' reactions are shown after
she says this). Coach believes you have to go with
your intuition in this game. Jerry goes along and
says that trust is very valuable to succeed as well.
This sparks some debate between Erinn and Debbie on
how long it takes to trust someone. Erinn believes
she is still figuring out who she can trust while
Debbie finds their hardship together has more than
bonded the group already.
The Survivors cast their votes and in the end,
Candace was blindsided by her tribe by a 7-1 vote
making her the second castaway voted out of Survivor
Tocantins. |
