Episode Recap: Episode 7 |
So from what I
can gather, Survivor has taken a hiatus for a couple of weeks
due to the College basketball finals, which is both good and
bad. Bad because we have to wait almost 3 weeks for a new
episode of Exile Island but good as it allows us poor Aussies to
catch up, well catch up a little. This season starts down under
next Tuesday, which puts it at about 6-7 weeks behind. So given
a couple of double episodes along the way, we may not have the
ending spoiled by David Lettermen, various gossip magazines or
yahoo.com as it has been in the past. For me, and others like
me, the introduction of torrents has been the best thing since
sliced bread….just don’t tell the FBI! So I’ve been logging on
around Friday afternoon Australian time, and by Saturday
morning, I’m having breakfast over the latest episode. I’ve said
it before and I’ll say it again, god bless the internet!
So, no formal
www.survivorshrine.com/s12 blog this
week, but I’ll talk about the recap show nonetheless. Its
actually been a while since I’ve seen a recap. Common practice
in Australia is that the network just skips it as we are
normally a week or two behind anyways. So it was good to be able
to reflect on the first 6 weeks. I typically hated the recaps
and rarely saw anything that made me sit up and notice, and this
recap wasn’t really an exception. Having said that, there were a
few things I picked up from the show.
-
A
re-affirmation that I would have loved to have seen Bobby
make more of a splash. It always frustrates me when the big
personalities go before their time. Had a long discussion
about the Bob Dawg with my partner, and we agree, the dude
just plain threw in the towel. I appreciate the fact that
Shane, Aras, Danielle & Courtney excluding him from the get
go. And I applauded him getting his own back with the bottle
of wine. But 1-2 weeks out of a merge, he just needed to
stay solid and perform like he was performing and he still
might have been there long enough to flip on the old Casaya.
He needed to take a leaf outta Cirie’s book.
-
Sally. I
had noticed there was a lot of support out there for her and
I wondered why. To me, she’s just like every other
blond-haired, pig-tailed young-en that’s come before. But
what the recap afforded me was a bit more of an insight into
her. I like her, she’s still boring, but Miss Knee Socks is
cool with me. Also, if you didn’t think Terry was being
played, think again. Austin has Sally pegged as a potential
ally and getting Terry to turn on two of his own in
preference for Sally is truly a master-stroke. Perhaps the
most under-rated strategic move (not that there’s been to
many made) of this series.

Just when I
thought there was no chance in hell that anyone could match
the irrepressible Sir Johnny Fairplay in car-crash
television style, here comes Shane Powers. Did anyone notice
his son’s name is Boston…..Boston Powers….Its not 1999 so
I’ll leave the Dr. Evil jokes out of this blog.
Nevertheless, this guys a classic. But I feel his time is
short.
