Hey
everyone, Justin is off graduating college (a huge
congratulations to him for such an amazing feat) so I
(James) will be filling for him this week. I don't quite
have the pizzazz or storytelling abilities, but I will
try my best. I'll just warn you now, that this will be
short and sweet.
The
tribe returns to camp a bit uncomfortable since Caryn
lay it all out there at Tribal Council but the four are
ready to press on and finish off what they have started.
The
next morning, Jenn and Katie head to get tree mail and
alarm the men back at camp after screaming their heads
off. Tree mail contained your basic breakfast foods,
bacon, eggs, bread, and some champagne and orange juice.
The tribe rejoices over their 'reward' and Katie says
how nice it is to actually enjoy each others company.
Reality sets back in however when she realizes they are
about to cut each other's throats. Prior to the immunity
challenge, the girls along with Ian said that Tom would
be voted out if he does not win the next immunity.
The
Final 4 enter their first immunity challenge and notice
a nice yellow car waiting for them. Jeff tells them that
the winner of the challenge will not be winning the car,
however, the winner of the game will. He also points to
the glove compartment where a million dollar check was
sitting inside.
The
reward challenge consisted of a tire obstacle course
with knots. After traversing this obstacle course,
whereby they obtained keys, they used these keys to make
it pass another obstacle. Ian and Tom completed this
portion of the challenge moving onto the next stage of
the challenge. The two would zip line into the ocean,
grab a box containing a set of three numbers. The two
would have to swim back to shore and use the numbers as
a combination to unlock the lock. After many failed
attempts, Tom manages to win immunity, much to Katie and
Jenn's disappointed reactions.
The
tribe arrives back to camp and Tom and Katie in
particular console Jenn who is evidently upset at going
home next. She sheds a tear, and Tom and Katie give her
a hugs. Tom had explained to Jenn that the entire time,
he had an agreement with Ian and would not go back on
his word with him. Ian then made a comment that got him
into trouble. He expresses his relief to Tom that he
won't have to make the decision as to who to go. Tom
took this to mean that Ian would not definitely protect
him if Ian were in the same position. Tom talks to Jenn
about it and she reveals that the plan was to take out
Tom if he did not win immunity. Tom goes confront Ian
and the matter is all out in the open. Ian admits that
he did mention to the girls he would vote for Tom had he
not won immunity. Tom doesn't want to hear anymore of
it, and the tribe heads off to Tribal Council.
They
arrive, the jury enters and Jeff Probst notes that they
are way overdue for their business. He speculates
something back at camp had happened and this is when the
tribe starts to talk about the fall out between Tom and
Ian. The talk in circles some more until they vote. Jeff
Probst tallies the votes, revealing a 2-2 tie between
Ian and Jenn. In the revote, they are deadlocked again
and now, Ian and Jenn must face off in an individual
immunity challenge (the same which Stephenie and Bobby
Jon battled in). In the end, Ian's fire lit first and he
secured his position in the final 3, sending Jenn off to
the jury.
The
three head back to camp and have it again. Ian feels
miserable but nothing he can say will mend things. Katie
even gets on his case about wheeling and dealing and
getting caught. He is not having fun and is on the verge
of a breakdown.
The
next morning, we see a shot of Ian waking up, digressing
about his worst night out on Palau. He grabs tree mail
and reads it to the rest. They learn the must raft out
and commemorate the 15 other people who played this game
(Jonathan and Wanda MIA). Afterwards, they arrived at
their final immunity challenge.
The
immunity challenge consisted of the three standing on
buoys using only a small disk to maintain their balance
and a pole for them to grab a hold to. After a few hours,
Katie quits the challenge and joins Jeff on the small
dock. The men battle it out, both saying they are only
getting started. Then, Jeff pries in by saying 4 hours
have passed (8 hours total) and no deals
have been made.
Tom makes a move and says that if he wins, he will take
Katie, or if Ian steps down, he will take Ian. All Ian
can say to that is no dice. After 3 more hours, Ian
reaches a solution. He wants Tom to take Katie if he
steps down, which will uphold his promise to the both of
them. He is not happy as to how he has been playing the
game, and would rather keep his integrity and friends.
Upon his 'exit,' Jeff prompts a Tribal Council to be
held, as it is not necessary. Tom verbally eliminates
Ian, the three of them hug, Ian pushes Tom into the
water (for saying something funny?) and the final 2
paddle back to camp.
The
final 2 just burn the camp down. Not much is said other
than how they are both excited to be in the final 2.
The two
enter Tribal Council and make some general opening
statements. We'll move on from that.
Coby:
addresses how Tom lied pretty well, and said Katie was
useless around camp, did nothing and was terrible at the
challenges.
Gregg
(tearing up): confronted Tom about being booted and said
Katie was pathetic and useless (she cries in response)
Stephenie: asked Tom if he really fought for her and
asked Katie why she should NOT vote for Tom
Janu:
questioned if Tom gave up any of his integrity and asked
Katie to describe herself using three positive/negative
words - Katie refused to answer the question

Caryn:
asked if she was a pawn in Tom's game and some other
gibberish to Katie
Jenn:
she commented that Tom was chauvinistic and how could he
expect someone who didn't treat her as if she was
playing the game to vote for him and elaborated on how
Katie did not make a move throughout the game
Ian: to
both: why should we as a group not give you a million
After
all is said and done, the jury votes. Coby votes for
Katie for giving an honest answer and Janu is just
rooting for Tom all the way. When the votes are read,
Tom is announced the winner of Survivor Palau by a
margin of 6-1.
