KOTA
Ace
I find
Ace to be pretty likeable. Although there was
that scene of Paloma being annoyed at him when
he bossed her around, he is probably one of the
reasons the tribe is doing well the first couple
of days. That scene where he leads the tribe in
a yoga exercise/stretch only adds more proof to
this. He obviously has a connection with Sugar,
as he picked her in the pick'em and has been
shown with her a lot around camp. He is being
set up as Marcus' foil and we predict will be
the one that sadly loses the battle for control.
Charlie
He has
set himself early on as someone that knows the
game and this usually goes well with the
viewers. I liked his comment about Fang playing
"stupid" Survivor. Still, I hope he realizes
that Marcus isn't someone he can completely
trust, I mean this is Survivor after all. If he
gets out of this gaga phase with him, he should
make it a lot further.
Corinne
She
started off the episode saying she was an uber
bitch, but then we get a confessional of her
praising a tribe member (Bob) and all of a
sudden, she is the fourth member of an alliance.
She has been described as the smartest woman out
there. So far, she hasn't done anything for us
to dislike her but we'll have to see.
Jacquie
She's
the MVP woman for Kota. Marcus and Charlie have
their sights set on her. Jeff Probst seemed to
like her pre-show and the first couple of days
out there. Other than that, we don't know all
that much about her yet.
Jessica "Sugar"
Sugar
will grow on us but she hasn't really lived up
to all the preseason hype of her being a big
character on the show. I think with episode 3
right around the corner, her story will develop
a bit more. She'll likely be enjoyed by viewers.
Kelly
Didn't
get much out of her this episode. Looks like
she'll be invisible all the way up to her exit
from the game. Even though she has the looks,
because the men on her tribe already have
potential romantic interests (Ace with Sugar,
Marcus with Jacque, Charlie not being interest,
and Bob being way too old to care), her
flirtation abilities mean squat at this point.
This is probably why her game has not been
highlighted because she realizes her original
strategy will not work so now she is stuck.
Marcus
I
think CBS wants us to like him. He has a
friendly exchange when he says hello to Jeff, he
is understanding of Charlie's man crush on him,
and he wants to form a solid alliance to get
deep into the game. The only thing that didn't
match up with all of this was his clear goal of
getting individual immunity. His confessionals
mostly revolve around strategy which is a good
sign for any of the Survivors.
Paloma
So
far, her edit has been less than stellar. After
struggling with the climb up the hill, we see
that she is not accepted for her physical
abilities--she was on the puzzle portion for the
first immunity challenge, and sat out of the
second one. She's setting herself up as an
outsider--not even Charlie who picked her at the
pick'em considered her as an alliance mate. That
scene where she is in the hut complaining about
Ace leading the others in a stretch does not
bode well for her. She's like another Michelle,
but on a tribe where they are winning immunity.
Robert (Bob)
He's
not your typical Survivor cannon fodder.
Although the older man, he's shown his
usefulness around camp and the youngin's seem to
really appreciate that. He's so well liked that
he's even being considered a part of a 4 person
alliance (with young members) so that tells you
something as to how the rest of the tribe feels
about him.
FANG
Crystal
Okay,
perhaps picking Susie as a choice to have on her
tribe was not the wisest move, but even so,
she's set herself up to be the last woman
standing on her tribe. A lot of the focus has
been on her hiding her past as a Olympic
medalist, but since then, the focus has been
shifted on her eye on the prize--which is
winning something for her tribe. It looks like
she will get to do that next episode. But until
then, we can only laugh at all the sassy and
funny comments she's been making.
Dan
He's
pretty absent minded, but I guess that is what
makes him likeable to viewers? I think he really
is out there to find himself. Unfortunately, his
clue reading abilities are lacking as he was
lead to believe the idol is in a lake? Hm.
Still, we have to wonder why he keeps denying
the post of leader of the tribe. What does it
mean when you are an emotional leader anyways?
Crystal says the guy is sharp, but so far, we
are just scratching our heads.
Danny (GC)
He
started off pretty likeable, but with the whole
turn of events of him being volunteered to lead,
his fight with Gillian, and then stepping down
as a leader, it doesn't look too well for him in
the future. Randy says it best that he's pretty
immature. Things don't seem to go well either
next episode when he gives Randy some attitude.
Gillian
A lot
more annoying than I expected her to be. Don't
cheerlead when your tribe is getting decimated.
Don't try to convince someone that voting out
the next weakest person (when you are the
weakest) is the best idea for the tribe. And
c'mon, don't ask people if they want to smell
good old elephant dung! I expected more from
someone that applied so many times.
Ken
He
proclaimed himself as the underdog, and we see
that. Third picked from last, the last male
being picked... he's surely risen to the
occasion and exceeded our expectations. He has
pretty much said it like it is, but in a more
diplomatic way and we got to love all his little
speeches he is giving when voting for others.
His interactions with his tribe, from the
eventual boot, Michelle including to people who
will stick around like Matty and Crystal have
all been positive. We hope Ken makes it far!
Matty
He
hasn't quite lived up to the surfer dude
stereotype, but he seems less absent minded than
Dan. Even so, its kind of charming to know that
this guy is pretty keen on the game despite
being characterized as someone not as smart. He
does seem to be content with being a follower at
this point, which is something we didn't expect
out of him. He asks Crystal who she is going to
vote for and he pretty much goes along with it.
Michelle
She
had potential, but regardless of what tribe she
was on, I'm sure the complaining would have
ensued and voting her out would have followed.
This is Survivor, not day camp, so when you are
laying on nothing but branches, the best idea is
to probably remain mum on the matter, especially
if no one else on the tribe is saying a thing.
She would have been fun to watch, but she
focused so much on her tribe being losers and
her being better than them that it only caused
her to stand out more.
Randy
He's
playing it up for the cameras, but whether he is
or not, it makes for great one liners throughout
the episode. He handled being injured pretty
well and it highlighted his determination to
stay in the game at all costs. His strategy
probably won't bode well, as he is stuck on a
tribe with 6 other people also waiting for the
tribe to self-destruct, but it will be hard to
get to that point if no one takes the lead which
we are seeing over and over again on Fang.
Susie
We
want to like her, she seemed pretty favorable
preseason but the only thing we remember is her
suggesting something to Michelle at Tribal
Council when it was clear she either wouldn't
have done the same, or she wasn't in the
position to do so because she was so weak that
she was left on the puzzle. We'll see how this
all pans out but if she keeps talking, she might
be walking.
